While the calendar has since turned to November, the month of October was closed out with Halloween and trick-or-treating festivities around the Clinton community on Friday, Oct. 31.
In addition to the observed village-wide trick-or-treating hours last week, businesses and organizations around Clinton also took advantage of the opportunity to decorate in seasonal Halloween fashion and welcome costumed children to their establishments for candy collecting and other goodies.
The Smith-Kimball Community Center (SKCC) was open on Halloween not only for trick-or-treating but also for hosting its annual Harvest Art Show displaying various artwork pieces made by students from Clinton Middle and High schools.
Tamara Forro, a trustee on the SKCC board, said the number of guests to stop by the historic building at 211 Tecumseh Road totaled just more than 200.
A free family Halloween was another local attraction held inside the Clinton Inn, 104 W. Michigan Ave., featuring full-size candy bars, hot chocolate and apple cider, doughnut holes, a free photo booth and spooky décor. While the whole family was welcome to stop by for treats, festive vibes and a fun night out, a group of at least 20 local youngsters — dressed in Halloween costumes — stayed at the Inn for a birthday party, according to Jennifer Randall, general manager and events coordinator at The Clinton Inn.
She, too, kept a tally on the number of people to stop by on Halloween night, registering around 550 visitors.
“Usually, about 600 is what we see,” Randall said. “But there was a playoff football game that started at 7.”
On the high school football field, the Clinton Redwolves did what they needed to do to keep their postseason football aspirations alive, defending their home turf and defeating Whiteford, 36-20, in Friday’s Division 7 playoff game.
