Blissfield's bowling team clinched its second straight Lenawee County Athletic Association championship last week with wins over Madison and Ida.

The 29-1 win over Ida at Rich Lanes came on Senior Night.

"It was a perfect way to celebrate the seniors and their contributions to the team," Blissfield coach John Harden said. "They have set a high standard for the program, and seeing them reach their goal of another conference title is a testament to their focus and leadership."

Alex Kudlac rolled games of 237 and 228. Matthew Anderson had a 208 and 193 and Jon Cheney shot a 203. Anderson and Cheney are seniors.

The marquee matchup of the week came Monday night when the Royals took on LCAA runner-up Madison.

The Royal bowlers were on a roll against the Trojans, rolling eight consecutive strikes during the second Baker game to take a 10-0 lead into the individual round. There, Cheney continued the firepower, starting with nine consecutive strikes. He converted a spare in the tenth frame, then rolled another strike for a 279. Collin Retter rolled a 227, Kudlac shot a 224, Preston Iffland had a 201.

The final score was 27-3.

On Saturday, the Royals participated in the Lenawee County Singles Tournament and had four bowlers earn All-County honors.

Cheney placed third, Anderson fourth, Kudlac sixth and Iffland seventh.

In the head-to-head competition, Cheney lost in the semifinals to Tecumseh's Jonathan VanZandt, 412-411. VanZandt went on to win the championship.

"It was a long, exciting day that provided the team with invaluable experience as they look toward the upcoming regional tournament," Harden said.
