Sand Creek pulled off one of the most amazing comebacks in Tri-County Conference history Friday, beating Summerfield 62-60.
Here's how it happened:
Summerfield led 60-50 with a minute remaining in the game.
Sand Creek missed a shot, Summerfield rebounded but turned the ball over.
Grady Hazelwood hit a 3-pointer from at least four feet beyond the arc to make it 60-53 with 34.3 seconds left.
Gavin Eack stole the ensuing inbounds pass and scored a layup to make it 60-55 with 29.2 seconds remaining.
Sand Creek fouled Summerfield on the ensuing inbounds pass but the Bulldogs missed both free throws. Eack grabbed the rebound and found Andon Sutherland alone for a 3-pointer. The shot made it with 20.2 seconds left, making it 60-58.
Sand Creek called a timeout with 18 seconds remaining.
A Summerfield player was whistled for a foul before the inbounds play while trying to get position, which gave the ball back to the Aggies under their own basket. After another timeout, Sutherland took the pass and connected on a 3-pointer to give the Aggies a 61-60 lead.
Summerfield threw a long pass that resulted in a quick layup, but the Bulldogs had called timeout first, sending the ball back to under the Sand Creek basket.
Summerfield inbouned the ball and had a chance for the win, but Sutherland stepped in front of a pass into the paint, was fouled and made a free throw for the final score, 62-60.
